Where do I begin with yesterday’s amazing wedding at Oxwich Bay?!
So much I want to say, so much I loved, so many amazing photographs I can’t wait to edit!
I’ll begin with the amazing couple themselves, Katie and Patrick. They contacted me last Autumn looking for a wedding photographer and we met at Llanerch Vineyard for a coffee and a chat about their wedding that was booked at the gorgeous Oxwich Bay Hotel.
We hit it off instantly, they are the loveliest couple and straight away I loved their wedding! It was going to be a beach style wedding with a relaxed vibe and style, with many decorations and personal details made by themselves. Right up my street!
Fast forward to yesterday! (time goes ridiculously fast when you’re planning a wedding!)
Katie’s bridal preparations were in the lovely “pods” at Oxwich Bay Hotel, there is a Secret Garden with really cute accommodation pods. There was much hustle and bustle, music playing and champagne popping, I could tell this was going to be a day full of fun and laughter.
It was also highly emotional… The whole family (and when I say “family” I include everyone, their friends are their family!) were holding back tears on the wedding morning.
Katie’s Grandad Bobby was going to be walking her down the aisle, and I suggested to Katie that a “first look” shot would be a gorgeous idea!
And I wasn’t wrong… These images are some of my favourites of the whole day! And it wasn’t just Bobby that was emotional, I turned around to find the bridesmaids all in tears too!
When I went to the ceremony room I could see Patrick’s emotions finally hitting him after being so chilled all morning the reality finally hit him that he would be marrying the love of his life any minute!
As Katie entered the room, her entrance music suddenly switched to the opening of Beyonce’s “Single Ladies”! It very quickly switched back but everyone absolutely cried with laughter! Everyone thought it had been planned but it was actually a complete accident! Turns out it was quite a successful one and it certainly broke the nerves of the bride and groom! Patrick was still full of emotion when he saw Katie though, and she was the most beautiful bride! She looked absolutely stunning!
Throughout the day it was clear to see how close their friend group is, the girls are “The
Salmons”, and the boys are “The Lobsters”, the boys even have matching lobster tattoos! The support they all have for each other is so lovely and they were just so much fun to photograph, a huge thank you to all of them for making my job so easy!
I must say a massive thank you to the best man Murray and Maid of Honour Jenni, they were both so organised and a huge help when it came to the timings of the photographs and keeping me informed of where we were at with the schedule of the day, my kind of people! I always like to have a timeline to work to, it helps make sure everything runs smoothly and having Murray and Jenni being absolute list-lovers like me made my job effortless yesterday.
I’ve also decided every wedding needs a Murray, he was incredible when it came to the group shots calling everyone together and making sure they all got done with ease. Thank you Murray!
All day we were battling the crazy wind and occasional showers, the beach was super windy but made for some brilliant shots of the bridesmaids and the groomsmen!
Katie and Patrick had let me know from the start that they absolutely didn’t want any obviously posed “cheesy” couple photographs, so we kept it very natural and I asked them to simply be themselves together, which led to much hilarity and photographs full of laughing and smiles!
This was totally them! I don’t think they realised how amazing they were during their photographs!
I had such an incredible day yesterday and loved every minute of it, the atmosphere was vibrant, the styling was just beautiful (and OMG the cake was GORGEOUS!) and the people made it a dream! You were all wonderful!
Thank you Katie & Patrick for making my job an absolute dream! Here’s your preview xx
