Baby Imogen was just 9 days old when I had the pleasure of photographing her for her newborn shoot. What an adorable little girl she is! She was so good throughout her shoot and I must admit I adored her instantly!
As a Lifestyle Photographer I like to photograph newborns in their own home, capturing as much as possible real life moments with their parents, siblings, even family pets that might like to sneak into the photographs as in Imogen’s shoot!
For me, newborn photography is about showing life with your newborn as it is at the time, baby’s own room, cot, special toys and blankets, moments that you will look back on in years to come and instantly be transported back to that time.
I aim to stir up real life memories and feelings, which I believe works best in a real home setting.
I will take some gently posed images, my shoots are a mixture of very natural moments “as they happen” along with some carefully posed shots.
Imogen was sleepy when I arrived for her shoot and we began by taking images of her in her cot in her nursery, she was so tiny in it! As the shoot moved on there were times she needed feeding, nappy changing and of course cuddles! There is never any pressure with the way I work, baby’s needs always come first and I want both baby and parents to feel as relaxed as possible.
As soon as I saw the lovely big window in the lounge with the sofa beneath it I knew it’d make a great spot for some natural shots, and Rolo the gorgeous Cocker Spaniel wanted to have centre stage for the images! I loved this, he is clearly very fond of his new family member!
Imogen was a delight to photograph, I hope you enjoy looking through her images.
