The Story Of Your Day…
Told by your perfect wedding photographer!
Searching for your perfect wedding photographer can be a little confusing. With so many photographers to choose from you might feel daunted. Along with everything else you have to organise when planning your wedding I know how overwhelming it can feel!
But it needn’t be complicated. Always follow your heart and go with a photographer whose style of photography you LOVE, and very importantly, who you personally like and get along with!
That might seem like an obvious thing to say but so many times I hear how couples say they didn’t feel relaxed with their photographer and it really does show in the images!
It’s important you “click” with your wedding photographer and feel you are “on the same page” when it comes to your wedding day. You’ll know you’ll have someone who understands your style and what you want from your wedding photos.
A good rapport also helps as you’ll feel at ease to be yourselves when being photographed and these give the best and most authentic photographs.
Long after your wedding day has passed your photographs are what you will have left therefore you must truly love them.
Are you looking for beautiful, relaxed photos from your wedding day? Photos that aren’t too posed and look natural?
If the answer is yes then are looking at the right wedding photographer!
Capturing your day naturally with documentary style wedding photography I tell the story of your day as it naturally unfolds.
Combining gorgeous portraits with natural candids along with relaxed group shots of your nearest and dearest.
My aim is to show your personalities (and those of your guests!) and I spend time looking for those candid ‘real’ moments because I know these are the images you will cherish. They are the ones you won’t know I even took that say so much!
You will receive a gallery that shows your wedding day with all the emotion that filled it. A collection of images flowing naturally to tell your wedding day story.
Unusual weddings really appeal to me and I adore couples who look to be a bit different with their style. The unique, the fun, the exquisite…
Whether it’s a country barn DIY wedding, a romantic elopement with just the two of you, a beach wedding or an elegant fairytale castle, I love them all and I’d love to hear about yours!
Those couples that have chosen details that suit their style and show who they are as a couple perfectly. You are my people!
Before your Wedding Day
Each wedding is unique and each couple are unique and I always like for you to meet with me first. (We can skype if I’m not in your area).
Firstly, so you can get to know me over a coffee or a cuppa and secondly so I understand your requirements for the day and the style and feel of your wedding.
On meeting with me I aim to give you trust and peace of mind.
Warning ~ I might get a little excited when you tell me about your wedding plans!
Photography is such an important part of your day therefore choosing your wedding photographer is one of the biggest decisions you will make when planning your wedding.
I’d highly recommend you choose the photographer that has a combination of style you love and that you personally feel comfortable and relaxed with.
Feeling at ease with your photographer is vital because if you are comfortable then this will show in your photos. When you feel relaxed with me – which I assure you – you will – you will really enjoy your couple photos! So many couples tell me afterwards how easy and relaxed it was and that they had so much fun!
How I work on your Wedding Day
As I like to be fully prepared and organised I will always be sure to have the details of your day. From times and places to any particular shots you would like. I always want to know these details and I create a unique timeline of your wedding day to work to. This ensures that I know where to be and when and I plan my day around you to tell your wedding story.
I follow your wedding day as it happens and photograph it naturally in a documentary photography style. I am always anticipating what will happen next and constantly looking for moments to capture, expressions, emotions, laughter, tears! Basically I am never off duty! I do all of this in the background, quietly and unobtrusively. When you see your gallery you might say “I didn’t know that happened!” I’ve even had one Mother of the Bride say “I didn’t know they were there!” when they saw the gallery. (Still makes me laugh!)
I am actively looking at all times and capturing the whole day as it unfolds from each angle. From your venue and the details you have chosen, your guests and entertainment you might have, to the surrounding setting for example fields or the sea depending on where you are. All of this builds together to help create the full story of your wedding day.
Your Couple Photographs
In addition to telling your story I love to create some beautiful portraits of you as a newly married couple.
These are the images that you will want framed on your wall so I love taking time to capture these.
Now I know you will probably be feeling a little apprehensive about this bit! And I know just how you will be feeling but let me assure you I make it feel really relaxed. Mostly I will be shooting from a bit of a distance whilst occasionally giving a little guidance. Whilst I may give you prompts and talk to you, it’s the reactions of you together that I am capturing. Genuine authentic smiles and feelings of the two of you together which give to create a true reflection of you as a couple.
Your couple photos are amongst the most special images of your day and I will look for the place that I feel has the best combination of light and location to give you beautiful couple portraits. This is a moment to enjoy! Quite often it is the first time you are alone together after saying “I do” so it’s quite special.
So all you have to do is be yourselves and the natural portraits that you want will come. All I ask is for a little of your time for them and to trust in me and I promise you won’t be sorry.
There will also undoubtedly be some important group shots that you would like from your wedding day. These don’t need to be too ‘posed’ or ‘formal’. I take family group portraits that look relaxed and feel comfortable. Gathering your family and friends together for photographs needn’t be a stuffy experience, mostly they are full of laughing!
I would describe my work as natural wedding photography, yet elegant. My aim is for you to feel beautiful in your images and for your gallery to show the true essence of your day.
Ultimately, your wedding day is a time for you to celebrate your love with your nearest and dearest. I will be there to capture this as it unfolds, in an unobtrusive manner, having respect for you and your guests at all times.
After your Wedding Day
Shooting the day is only the beginning. Post production is equally as important as shooting the day itself. I pride myself with taking time to edit each image individually by hand creating a beautiful collection for you. This is part of the process I love, seeing your wedding photos all together and bringing your day to life!
Your gallery will be completed within 10 weeks of your wedding date, if it looks like it will be longer due to peak season time I will keep you informed.
I understand the importance of digital images but I do believe that photographs are at their best printed. They are made to be seen! In addition to offering USB collections I can also design beautiful bespoke wedding albums.
The company I have chosen for my wedding albums is Folio, their quality is beautiful.
When you see the sample albums I’m sure you will agree they really are stunning! They can be made in a choice of leather of fabrics and you can personalise the lettering and wording on the cover. There are even “parent albums” which are smaller duplicates of your album for your family which make gorgeous gifts!
Engagement or Pre-Wedding Photography Session
An engagement shoot is a good way to get a feel for how we will work together. It also helps to build a rapport, which we no doubt will!
You will see how I work and as a result feel more at ease when it comes to your big day.
I know just how daunting it can feel being photographed therefore an engagement shoot can be a good practice before your big day. Then when it comes to your wedding photos it will be an enjoyable experience!
You will receive approx 20 images on an online gallery that you can download. These can be lovely to use as Save the Date cards! See examples of previous engagement shoots on my wedding galleries page.
A Second Photographer
One thing you might want to consider having is a second photographer. I can’t be in 2 places at once and having a second photographer gives you added coverage. Having a second pair of eyes also captures moments that might otherwise be missed.
This is something I would recommend if you have over around 100 guests.
Do you like the idea of having the groom preparations photographed? A second photographer can be there to record natural images as the groom’s morning unfolds. It’s a part of the day that I feel is just as important as the bridal preparations!
During the ceremony itself I will usually be at the front and a second would be at the back. They would capture the bride’s entrance and walk down the aisle from behind, I personally love this shot!
Having a second pair of eyes gives an alternative angle on the day which adds to give a full account of the day.
I am part of a network of professional photographers and your second photographer will be experienced and trusted. They will very likely be someone I know and have worked with before.
All images will be edited by me so your gallery will be consistent in my style.
Please get in touch if you would like any more information about my approach to shooting weddings. I would love to hear about your day!
Whilst I am a South Wales wedding photographer, I am always very happy to travel. In fact many weddings I have worked on have been across the UK. (have a look at my wedding galleries) so wherever your wedding is taking place, let me know! I love seeing new places.
