Lifestyle Wedding Photography
My style of photography for capturing your wedding day is lifestyle wedding photography. I’d describe it as a mixture of documentary style photography and fine art wedding photography.
On your wedding day I capture real moments as they happen and I also create portraits that do require a small amount of guidance. But I promise you no cheesy looking couple photos! Just natural and gorgeous portraits that reflect the two of you perfectly.
Before your Wedding Day
Each wedding is unique and each couple are unique so I always like for you to meet with me either in person or over an online video call.
Firstly, so you can get to know me a bit and secondly so I understand your requirements for the day and the style and feel of your wedding.
On meeting with me I aim to give you trust and peace of mind. Warning – I might get a little excited when you tell me about your wedding plans!
About three weeks before your wedding day we’ll meet again to go over the timings of your day – this is when your wedding begins to feel really real! After this meeting I put together a timeline of your wedding day which details what is happening and when. I follow this timeline and plan my timings so that I’m in the right place at the right time. I always have my list of the shots on me of images that I need to capture during each part of your day.
In the run up to your wedding I am here for you to talk to at any point and I am very happy if you do contact me. I love hearing how your plans are progressing!
How I work on your Wedding Day
Being a lifestyle wedding photographer I capture your wedding day as it happens. Always anticipating what will happen next and constantly looking for expressions, emotions, laughter and tears! Basically I am never off duty, always working quietly and unobtrusively in the background documenting the whole day as it unfolds.
I begin the day with your bridal preparations and seriously love this part of your day! I focus on your details such as dress, shoes, engagement ring, flowers and of course you and your girls getting ready!Groom preparations are something you might like to consider having photographed too and where the groom is getting ready at the same venue I’ll be able to photograph that too. If the groom is getting ready further away from the bridal preparations then you might like to add a second photographer to your collection and they will be there to capture this part of the day, as well as give extra coverage throughout the day too. It’s always an important part of my shot list to make sure I photograph your venue fully decorated, I know how much thought and love you have put into every detail and I want to make sure you have those details captured. From your venue and the details you have chosen, to your guests and entertainment you might have to the surrounding setting. It all builds together to help tell the full story of your wedding day.
Your Couple Photographs
In addition to telling your story I love to create some beautiful portraits of you as a newly married couple.
These are the images that you will want framed on your wall so I love taking time to capture these.
Now I know you will probably be feeling a little apprehensive about this bit! And I know just how you will be feeling but let me assure you I make it feel really relaxed. Mostly I will be shooting from a bit of a distance whilst occasionally giving a little guidance. Whilst I may give you prompts and talk to you, it’s the reactions of you both together that I am capturing. Genuine authentic smiles and feelings between the two of you which create a true reflection of you as a couple.
Your couple photos are amongst the most special images of your day and I will look for the place that I feel has the best combination of light and location to give you beautiful portraits. This is a moment to enjoy! Quite often it is the first time you are alone together after saying “I do” therefore it’s quite special.
So all you have to do is be yourselves and the natural portraits that you want will come. All I ask is for a little of your time and to trust in me and I promise you won’t be sorry.
There will also undoubtedly be some important group shots that you would like from your wedding day. These don’t need to be too ‘posed’ or ‘formal’ and I take family group portraits that look relaxed and feel comfortable. Lifestyle wedding photography is natural and my group photographs are laid back and full of smiles.
Gathering your family and friends together for photographs needn’t be a stuffy experience and mostly they are full of laughing! I ensure they are organised and happen seamlessly allowing you to get back to celebrating with your loved ones.
My aim is for you to feel beautiful in your images and for your gallery to show the true essence of your day.
Ultimately, your wedding day is a time for you to celebrate your love with your nearest and dearest. And I will be there to capture this as it unfolds, in an unobtrusive manner having respect for you and your guests at all times.
After your Wedding Day
Shooting the day is only the beginning. Post production is equally as important as shooting the day itself. I pride myself with taking time to edit each image individually by hand creating a beautiful collection for you. This is part of the process I love! Seeing your wedding photos all together and bringing your day to life!
Your gallery will be ready within 10 weeks of your wedding date. If it looks like it will be longer I will keep you informed.
If you have chosen a wedding album as part of your collection this will be designed within 12 months of your wedding. I allow up to 12 months because I know it can be hard to choose the images! Quite often if you are having a summer wedding you might like your album before Christmas, they make lovely gifts!
I love capturing the joy of your wedding day and the personalities of your amazing friends and family. No two weddings are the same and that is why I love what I do!
The following images are from weddings I have shot and some I have enjoyed working on for other fabulous photographers.
