Ceri approached me earlier this year to enquire about photographing her wedding celebration party at The Bear Hotel in Cowbridge.
Ceri & Luka live in Vienna and married there last year. They wanted to have a wedding party for all their family and friends back in Ceri’s home of Wales.
They were looking for me to capture the party naturally along with some couple portraits as they didn’t have these from their wedding in Vienna.
Ceri had also said she loved my children photography and this is what drew her to me. They have a young son and would love me to take some nice family shots for them. This was so lovely to hear, as family photography is where I began and photographing children is a big love of mine!
The Bear Hotel is in the centre of Cowbridge and a gorgeous setting for a wedding, the reception party was being held in the recently refurbished San Quentin Suite, it is absolutely beautiful!
It also has it’s own private courtyard which was perfect for the portraits to take place in.
I spent time alone with Ceri & Luka before the guests arrived and took portraits of them alone and together. I think you’ll agree they make a stunning couple and were such naturals in front of the camera!
The guests arrived and soon the party was in full swing. I loved the relaxed atmosphere that filled the reception and this gave for some great candid images of the guests. Ceri wanted natural documentary photographs which is just my style and I loved capturing these.
Along with the natural photographs there were some group shots that Ceri & Luka wanted of close family and friends. I like these to look informal and comfortable and the courtyard at the Bear Hotel was a perfect backdrop for these.
Ceri & Luka’s son Tristan was so sweet to photograph too! With young children I find they give you a short window of time and then that’s it, time’s up! But in that time he gave me some beautiful portraits, I particularly love the three of them as a family.
After capturing some more natural shots I left them to celebrate together, and it looked like it was going to be a great evening!
